It’s not known who would pay and how much it would cost, but special-effects outfit Moment Factory is reportedly in talks to illuminate the Jacques-Cartier Bridge as part of Montreal’s 375th anniversary celebrations in 2017.
La Presse reported that illumination could be done at the same time as planned repairs. It also reported, however, that the project has been on the books since 2000.
“A group led by Moment Factory is pushing to have the project go through” for the anniversary.
The illumination has not been mentioned as part of the approved anniversary projects, which total at least $15 million so far. Friday’s story estimated the illumination could cost $22 million and hinted that a sizeable federal contribution would be required, but is not yet forthcoming.
Montreal-based Moment Factory has engineered large multimedia special events for the likes of Cirque du Soleil, Quartier des spectacles, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Madonna, Disney, Microsoft and Sony.
